Purpose
The
purpose of
plastic surgery on the
abdomen (technically:
Abdominoplasty, also called
Tummy Tuck) is to return to
an aesthetically natural
appearance of the stomach
region by tightening the
loose skin, and/or reducing
the subcutaneous fat layers.
A more extensive
Abdominoplasty also includes
the repositioning of the
underlying muscles.
Target
group
Men
and women with loose skin in
the abdominal area, or with
a rounded Abdomen and
surplus skin, which can't be
reduced through diet or
exercise. Tummy Tuck
Surgery is particularly
advisable after pregnancy or
significant weight loss.
Methods
and procedures
Mini
Abdominoplasty:
The
abdominal skin is lifted
through an incision along
the upper limit of the pubic
hair, and extra skin and fat
are removed.
Full
Abdominoplasty:
With
a complete or full
abdominoplasty the incision
is extended toward the area
of the hips. The underlying
muscle tissue (technically:
rectus muscles) is tightened
and the navel is
repositioned.
Endoscopically
assisted Abdominoplasty:
With
the use of the endoscope,
the experienced specialist
is able to tighten the
abdominal muscles through
just a small incision like
that used in the Mini
Abdominoplasty.
Anesthesia
General
anesthesia
Hospital
stay
2-3
days
Recovery
Application
of a post-operative dressing and/or a
special compressive garment (pants)
during the first 3-4 weeks. Removal of
the stitches after two weeks.
Final
result
The
final result of the Tummy Tuck is
basically permanent. However, the
result might be compromised in a
natural way by aging and subsequent
pregnancies.
