The purpose of Breast Augmentation
(also called Breast Enlargement, Breast Enhancement): Aesthetic
improvement of the breasts

Methods
and procedures

operation of

under general anesthesia.
Through small incisions,
which are made either along
the border of the areola,
along the lower border of
the breast or through an
incision near the armpit,
the implants are introduced
and positioned beneath the
gland or under the breast
muscle. By the Dual Plane
Method the muscle is
slightly modified, so that
the implant is positioned
just on its top under the
muscle.
An alternative to the permanent
breast augmentation lies in the
injection of fillers such as Macrolane
or the transplantation of specially
prepared body own fat.

Hospital
stay
Breast Implants: 1-2 days (general
anesthesia)
Recovery
Breast Implants: Hospital
stay 1-2 days. After the
operation a special
compressive garment is
applied, which is removed
after 4-5 days. Swelling and
bruising disappear usually
within the next 7-14 days.
Recovery time is 7-8 days.
During the first 30-40 days
after the surgery the
patient uses a special bra,
which is recommended
especially during the
sports.
Longevity
Breast Implants:
Implants are granted by the producer
for 8-15 years. Most producers
recommend replace the implants every
8-10 years, although the real
experience shows a lifetime of 30 and
more years: lifetime. There is no
medical reason to replace them if
there are no problems.
Risks
Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising
can occur. Infection and reactions
following Restylane Vital are rare.
Notes
Smokers
usually have to count on an
extended recovery time after
surgery. The risk of
complications is higher than
with nonsmokers.
