and procedure
External
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction
(XUAL):
The External
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction
(also called Ext.
ultrasonic-assisted
liposuction) represents
a technological advancement
of the classical Ultrasound
Liposuction. The fat is
removed through an external
probe that emits ultrasound
waves from the outside, in a
non-invasive way. The actual
suction process begins after
the pre-dissolving process.
The decisive advantage lies in the
fact that the fat is removed
without any mechanical
movements that could harm
the tissues. Once the fat is
dissolved, it can be easily
and quickly suctioned out,
with minimal movements of
the cannula. The risk of
post-operative skin
unevenness and hematoma is
minimized, the healing is
usually pain free and
respectively faster and easier.
Anesthesia
A
small Liposuction procedure as around the knee or
the chin can
be carried out under local
anesthesia. Generally all
medium and large sized
procedures are performed
under general anesthesia.
Hospital
stay
Minimal
liposuction, if carried out
under local anesthesia,
takes place as day surgery. If
there is removal of medium
or larger fat quantities
under general anesthesia, an
overnight stay in the
hospital is required.
Recovery
Swelling
and bruising over the next
1-3 weeks. Compressive
garments (mostly elastic
pants) for 3-4 weeks.
Longevity
Permanent
Note
In regard to the External
Ultrasound Liposuction doctors
and experts debate over a
recent scientific
finding/statistic which
shows a comparably high
percentage of dissolved fat
cells found in the blood
household of the operated
patients. (There are serious
risks connected with an
excessive quantity of fat
cells in the blood.)
