Face Lift

 Purpose of face lift

(technically Rhytidectomy): Re-creation of the anatomy of the younger face, based on anatomical knowledge. The face is rejuvenated (facial rejuvenation ). Its appearance is refreshed by the tightening of the concerned skin areas, by the removal of excess fat deposits and by the refreshing and tightening of the underlying muscle tissue. The traditional goal of a facelift is to turn back the clock for about 10 - 15 years. A 'classical' face lift generally refers to the lower two-thirds of the face, including the neck area. The eyelid and brow area is usually considered a separate lift procedure, although they are also performed within the same session when needed.

 Methods and procedures

Soft Lift: In the Softlift the skin is tightened only superficially. There is the risk of a mask effect and a relatively short duration for the result.

SMAS Face Lift: Over marginal incisions along the margin of the face and usually within the area behind the ears, the skin is taken off and tightened. Surplus skin is removed. With the SMAS Lift the underlying muscle tissue is likewise tightened and repositioned. With the complete SMAS Face and Neck Lift, all areas of the face including the neck are refreshed. Endoscopic Face Lift: Modern methods of face lifting use the endoscope for minimally invasive procedures. The use of endoscopy is ideal for younger patients up to 40 years old. With endoscopic interventions ( Endoscopic Forehead and Eyebrow Lift, Glabella Lift, Lower Face Lift, Correction of Nasolabial Folds, Neck Lift and Jowl Correction ) usually only 3-5mm long incisions are made within the hairline area, just large enough to enable the surgeon to penetrate with the endoscope into the problem area. These interventions remain practically invisible. It’s also excellent  in combination with the classical methods for a tailor made approach, where the endoscopy can effectively contribute to the most complete and most regular facial rejuvenation over all the areas of the face and the neck, including areas that are not lifted with the classical Face Lift such as the mid face area or the nasolabial area. The endoscope achieves very effective results with practically no scars left. MAC Lift: The MAC Lift (also called MAC's Lift) forms in some cases a sinful compromise between the complete SMAS Face Lift and the Endoscopic Mid Face Lift and represents frequently the ideal solution for the younger patient with skin relaxation in the mid face area.  more >

Aptos Lift: By the Aptos Lift ( Soft Fast Lift or Feather Lift), the surgeon uses resolvable or permanent anti-drooping suturing threads which are placed (using special thin needle cannulas) underneath the skin surface on the area to be treated. The operation is carried out in local anesthesia, ambulatory, and is almost risk-free.  more >

 Anesthesia

General Anesthesia

 Hospital stay

2-3 days

    Recovery

Minimum 7 maximum 15 days under our doctors supervision and med-care. Application of a special light compressive garment for one-three days, depending on need and the extent of the operation. Stitches are removed after 12-14 days. After that it is possible to use make up again. Swelling may be present for 7-14 days.

    Longevity

A facelift with just skin tightening leads to results of about 3 years’ duration. The more refined method of SMAS Face Lift leads to a basically permanent result. However, it does not stop the aging process. The achieved rejuvenating effects diminish in a natural way over the course of time. For this reason a second lift is in most cases recommended after 7-15 years.
