Rhinoplasty - nose correction

The nose in the center of our attention

In the real sense of the word the nose is always the center of our attention. This may be among other reasons why the nose is one of the most common facial cosmetic surgical procedures performed . The size and shape of one’s nose has a great impact on how a person looks.

The nose is the most defining characteristic of the face and so a slight alteration can greatly improve one’s appearance. Some people are unhappy with the nose they were born with, or with the way aging has changed their nose; some have had an injury, which has distorted their nose, and others desire to improve their breathing. Cosmetic surgery on the nose is performed to bring the nose shape into harmony with the face, thereby improving overall appearance, which can also  bring improved social acceptance.

Nose tip correction and Complete Rhinoplasty

A "Nose Tip Correction" or "Soft Nose Correction" refines the shape of the lower parts of the nose, in the area of the nose tip and the columella. In contrary to the complete Rhinoplasty by the soft nose correction only the soft parts of the nose are involved and refined.

Complete Rhinoplasty: Open and closed Rhinoplasty

There is no standard procedure or ideal in Complete Nose Reshaping or Complete Rhinoplasty. However, the Closed Rhinoplasty is usually preferred by the experienced Specialists. More skills are required, but no visible scars are left at all. The surgery is performed exclusively through incisions inside the nose, where they are invisible. Occasionally, when external incisions are necessary [Open Rhinoplasty], an incision is made across the base of the columella, the strut between the two nostrils. In this case, the scars are very small and inconspicuously placed. During the surgery, the surgeon separates the skin of the nose from the underlying bone and cartilage. Certain amounts of the bone and cartilage are removed, added to or rearranged to provide a newly shaped structure. The tissues are then repositioned over the new frame, incisions are closed, and the natural elasticity of the skin is allowed to reshape over the new framework. At the conclusion of the procedure, a plaster splint is applied to the outside of the nose to help retain the new shape and reduce swelling while the nose heals. Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes is expected for a couple of weeks.
