Membership
of a national board says relatively little about the
trustworthiness of a plastic surgeon, because every physician
is not equal to every other physician, and every plastic
surgeon is not a good plastic surgeon. Our recommendation is
to consider the surgeon’s affiliation with at least one
national and one international association as a fundamental
minimal qualification.

chances are that you will be too, especially if you plan the
same treatment.
Specialized
clinic
The
best qualified plastic surgeons usually practice in a private
specialized clinic for plastic surgery, with a well-trained
staff and the best of modern equipment and technology.
Location
Sought-after
plastic surgeons and good clinics can usually be found in
major urban areas, because the demand for good physicians is
highest. The specialist is more likely to have the necessary
experience here as well, because of the numbers of patients he
sees. There are a few exceptions of world-famous clinics that
enjoy good reputations, even in less populated areas, but they
are located in economically exceptional prospering areas.
Reasonable prices
In any
country, a patient who cares for his own safety must not put
his destiny into the hands of discount surgeons. Whenever the
prices of the surgeon are remarkably below the country’s
average, the low price is usually explained by an inflated
number of operations done per day and/or the fact that money
is saved in the wrong places. In both cases this is done at
the expense of the safety of the patient and of the results of
the surgery. On the other hand, the most expensive specialist
is not necessarily the best one. Prices can be also be raised
solely for reasons of marketing and profit. We recommend
finding a reasonable, justifiable price level.
Specialization
Naturally
some areas of specialization and/or strengths develop even
with the best plastic surgeon. Try to get to know the areas of
strength of the respective specialist. You will then have a
crucial advantage and much higher likelihood of being in the
correct hands for your plastic surgery.
Choose the right source of information - especially in the web In different countries there are different roles and definitions for qualifications. For the patient which consider having its plastic surgery done in another country it is essential to rely on a trustworthy source of information or recommendation which is located inside that country. It is difficult to assure reliable information just from outside. Only an independent source from inside a country can offer such reliable information, which depend on local conditions and circumstances. Independence is not the only criteria for how reliable a information source might be. Web-advertising companies, search engine optimizer, web-designer or simply website-mass-producer are the classical staffs who watch the web trends and reproduce the original businesses in many different areas. They may eventually achieve top results with their homepages, whatever their content, simply because of their specialized web-and search engine activities, but they do not at all represent a qualified and professional resource in any area, the less in a sensible area such as Plastic Surgery. Staffs behind do generally many different activities, have no specific qualification that matches the requirements for a professional plastic surgery management and do not provide any kind of genuine quality supervision on the services offered or recommended. Usually in such websites the visitor might find similar contents and reproduced ideas and conceptions of other original professional, specialized websites. The visitor might eventually find typical offers such as free consultation by the allegedly most sought after surgeons, but the educated reader may question how a top sought after plastic surgeon can offer his time for free? The truth is: It is a contradiction in itself.
Our recommendation: Make sure to receive reliable advice possibly from part of an independent professional and specialized staff, from a professional medical source which shall be specialized in the area of plastic surgery and in the ideal case also in professional quality management, such as it is Aesthetia.
About degrees and pre-degrees:
For patients who consider having their plastic surgery in Czechia, it is important to be informed about the local definitions of "Plastic Surgeon" and "Aesthetic Surgeon". In contrary to the most other countries, here in Czech Republic "Plastic Surgeon" and "Aesthetic Surgeon" represent just different definitions for the same qualification, since only and exclusively certified Plastic Surgeons are allowed to use the title "Aesthetic Surgeon".
In Czech Republic titles such as "Cosmetic Surgeon", "Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgeon", "Specialist in Cosmetic Surgery", "Specialist Cosmetic Surgeon", "Specialist in Aesthetic Surgery" and other similar definitions are frequently used by general surgeons without clear qualification in the area of plastic surgery.
A "Specialist for Plastic Surgery" is a pre-degree for Plastic Surgeon. A Specialist for Plastic Surgery is already member of the national association of plastic surgery JEP and may under certain conditions -such as indirect supervision, existing medical and operational licenses, etc.- officially perform plastic surgery.
Aesthetia, is the first Czech private association in the area of plastic surgery and therefore represents the first choice, simply "the creme de la creme" of the Czech Plastic Surgery. All our operating doctors are exclusively "Plastic Surgeons", which has always represented a basic minimum requirement for our operating doctors.
Last but not least we have found homepages which publish lists of names and addresses of different medical categories such as surgeons or plastic surgeons of specific countries or regions. Do not rely on such online lists, they do generally not represent official medical registers. Such lists may eventually not be correct. We have found concrete cases of foreign homepages with Czech doctors listed as certified plastic surgeons without having such qualification. We have also repeatedly registered recommendations on different local English websites for surgeons which are not certified Plastic Surgeons.
