The treatment usually takes place under general anesthesia with 2-3 days of stay in our clinic. After the complete reconstruction of juvenile face anatomy the stay can be extended as required for 1-2 additional days. After the operation you awake with swollen face and strained skin. Depending upon kind of the Face Lift hematoma can occur at the treated areas. By the SMAS Face and Neck Lift hematoma appear most frequently in the area of the cheeks and underneath the chin. Immediately after the operation and for the first 1-2 days your appearance is relatively strongly compromised due to the hematoma and swelling. Already after 2-3 days however the majority of the swelling fade away, so that before leaving the hospital at the same time with the control the bandage can be definitively removed. The remaining swelling regress in the course of the coming 2-3 weeks. Right after the treatment usually occurs an easy deafness feeling at the treated areas. After the complete Face and Neck Lift or after the complete reconstruction of the juvenile face anatomy arises the deafness feeling within the entire face. This is completely normal. The usual feeling comes back again within few days and weeks.  

Scars

In order to assure the optimal scar healing the direct exposure of the the scar tissue may be avoided as far as possible for the period of up to 6 months. During the first 3-4 weeks it is not recommended to undergo any expanded sun bath or solarium session.  Later the still UV-sensitive scar tissue can be protected with good sun protection factor. In this way it is possible to prevent a possible change of pigmentation of the scar tissue and the scars can heal up to the complete invisibility. The use of lymphatic massages and special scar massages (pressages) can be individually recommended by our specialists. Lymphatic massage can be helpful to stimulate the general healing process. The special massages (pressages) on the scar scar tissue help preventing against possible irregularities in the scar healing (like e.g. hardening of the scar tissue) and by correct application effectively contribute to the complete disappearing of the scars.

The hairs  

You may come to our clinic with freshly washed hair. For the operation it is not necessary to shave the hair along the area of incision, but in contrary: if you use to carry short hair, you may leave your hair somewhat longer before the treatment. It helps to cover the initially recognizable scars.

By problematic skin type   

For the patient with problematic skin (impure or large-porous skin) it is meaningfully to undergo a cosmetic treatment 1-2 weeks before the operation.

Body weight fluctuations   

In the case that you plan a drastic diet and weight reduction after the Face Lift, you may let it know to our specialist before the operation. It will be possible for him to consider this factor in the treatment.
